Hi Jen,

Thanks for the input. I couldn't agree with you more. Why does everyone think money is the only answer when it comes to employee commitment and morale? Its the simple things that can be the most effective.

Agreed. I write on this topic all the time and the biggest factors are honesty and transparency. You have to be committed to them to get employees to be committed to the company. There are many great ways to do this and it's not a matter of throwing money at it. If you don't work on it now, when the opportunity arises your best talent will move elswhere.

Candice,

This is great advice. You are absolutely right about the self talk. The mood swing created by changing what I say to myself can be amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Best regards,
Chris Paulsen

Thanks for the good and positive advice!

I don't know why the unemployed have become such scapegoats in our current political arena. I was dismayed and shocked to see high-ranking elected officials disparage the millions of jobless Americans, most of whom are unemployed through no fault of their own!

Unfortunately, such negative rhetoric resounds throughout the media and enforces perceptions of the employed, unemployed, and employers alike. It can be hard to escape it, especially if you've been unemployed for a long period.

Clay,

Yep, it is all about the customer. We always know this deep down because we are customer's ourselves. Yet when we have a product to sell our passion for the product can get in the way of serving the needs of the person buying. Glad the article gave you a little "aha".

Great article! Funny that I was thinking the customer cared about me. Upon reflection, I see that the real care is about them "me". Sometimes customers buy what they need like essentials, many times it is to get what they want. Like buying the big TV they can't afford.
I need to get my sales process revitalized to include more research, expected outcomes for the client and for me, and create a sales pitch that creates a need or want fulfillment.

Nice one Candice,

We seem to be agreeing a lot lately. Here's a post from my blog a couple of weeks ago with some more Coach Wooden quotes:

He certainly was a great man full of terrific common sense wisdom.

Cheers,
